Halloween Ideas To Inspire… (+ a Giveaway)

October 1, 2013 by Jen Budge

DSC_6287I can’t believe Halloween is just around the corner.  I have always loved Halloween.  From when I was younger and went Trick or Treating, to when I was older and spent the evening with my dad and sister dressed up and scared the kids who came to our house (we always had the best house at Halloween, everyone came back year after year).  It was so fun!!!  And now that I have my own son it’s so fun watching him get dressed up and run from house to house so excited to get candy from everyone.  Needless to say I love the holiday.  It’s sort of a welcome to the holidays.  I mean once Halloween hits I feel like in no time you’re welcoming in the New Year b/c Thanksgiving and Christmas come so fast in between.banner-peb-thirtyone

Anyway, it has been awesome to team up with American Crafts this month. I absolutely loved working with the Pebbles Thirty One Collection of paper and embellishments they sent me to work with. Along with their fabulous designs and my Designer templates I made a couple super cute things to share with you today. I also have a little giveaway to give to one of you lucky readers.  🙂  So make sure to read below for details.Image 7
First up My Halloween Decor for my picture frame.  You know I see so many cute printable sayings for the holidays around my friends homes and on Pinterest but I decided to use my Kiwi Lane Templates along with my Halloween Paper/Embellishments to create this which I think is WAY BETTER than a plain printable, what do you think?

Templates Used:

  • Photo Set: 5”x7”
  • Spook Alley: 1A
  • Adorn: 2A
  • Tiny Holiday: 5T

DSC_6289Next I decided to pre-make a two page layout.  Have I told you I love all of the Holiday D.T. Sets from KLD?  Well I totally do.  I don’t get to use them all that much but now that the holidays are ahead of us I’m sure I’ll be using them a ton in the upcoming months.  Unfortunately I must have deleted my before FRAMED photo I took of my layout with my phone.  (I always try to share those with you but can’t this time.)  Hoping to use this for my sons Halloween photos from this year so that’s why there aren’t any photos just yet.  🙂

Templates Used:

  • Spook Alley: 1A, 1B, 2A, 2B, 3A, & 3B
  • Halloween: 1, 2, 3, & 4
  • Tiny Holiday: 4T & 5T

I’m in the process of moving to a new home with my family so pretty much everything is packed up from my scrapbooking supplies.  I had really wanted to add photo corners to this page and so I thought what can I do?  My corner punch is packed away….  Well, I took my 1” Strip Set and cut the 1” strip across my 12” paper (you could do it with any size paper) and then used my paper trimmer to then cut that long 1”x12” paper into 1” squares.  After doing that I simply cut them in half from one corner to the other leaving me with a triangle photo corner.  Worked out great and was just what I needed.

halloweenWould you like the chance to score a Kiwi Lane Designs Halloween Accessory Set of your own?  Well… all you need to do is begin following my blog if you’re not already and then comment on this post sharing with me what your favorite Halloween Tradition is.

Good Luck to you All.  Random Winner will be announced Friday October 11th.  So make sure to comment by the Midnight MST on October 10th.  (I will only ship within the United States sorry if you live out of the country) 😦

  1. Such a cute Layout. I love going to a real pumpkin patch ( not the pop up shopping center ones)
It really feels like fall when walking through a field of pumpkins, even in California when it could be 90 degrees in October. Thanks for a chance to win.
    Happy Scrappin’ Carrie

    • I love going to the real pumpkin patches too. Just wish they sold the pumpkins at the same price you can pick them up at Walmart. They’d sell so many more if they were cheaper. 🙂 Thanks for sharing Carrie.

  2. Sue D says:

Great decor and layout. I follow your blog. I like to decorate with pumpkins from our garden for Halloween.

    • Susan & Shiloh did that last year Sue. They had a huge Garden and split the bounty. I’m hoping one year to start a garden of my own but haven’t yet. That’s fun to grow your own pumpkins. 🙂

First I want to start by telling you that I have always admired your layouts and your kiwi lane create ability You add such inspiration to myself and I am sure to many others. What do I love about Halloween you ask? I too love going to the pumpkin patch and taking pics of my now 13 year old daughter. To this day it is still exciting to see which pumpkin she will pick up. Will it be the great big one, the teeny tiny one, or even the lazy one. Gotto snap those pics because another thing I love about Halloween is creating Halloween layouts more then some other layouts. Kinda spooky but true.

  4. Randy Rimington says:

I just love pumpkin carving. We have all kinds of cute and scary patterns. The best is when you are all done and then place the candle inside. It is magic.

  5. Pam Wooddell says:

    I’d love to win!

Our Halloween tradition is a driveway party! We move the fire pit to the driveway, set up chairs, canopy and grill sliders! The whole neighborhood is invited and adults enjoy beverages while children run up and down the streets, T’r’T-ing! Most adults put real effort into their own costumes as well!

  6. Joan I says:

Love to take my nieces and nephews to the “the great jack o’lantern Blaze”. It’s wild, thousands of pumpkins carved and lit up. Wonderful under an October sky at night.

Being a new scrapbooker….I am in just awe of your creations! Thank you so much for sharing. I just learned about Kiwi Lane and would love to win these to see what it’s all about as I have been drooling over their site for about a week now. I can’t wait to see more blog posts from you.

  8. Cindy says:

Love your layouts!!!! My Halloween family tradition is to do pumpkin carving..I have four kids and this year is going to be my daughters first year watching and helping us continue our tradition…

  9. Great layout! I just love Halloween too! Maybe it’s the crisp, fall weather or raiding my kids’ candy stash (Shhh!)…either way, my favorite Halloween tradition is taking my kids (now ages 7 & 10) trick-or-treating at Ms. Robin’s house. Ms. Robin lovingly cared for both of my children before they started school while I was at work as a full-time teacher. I get teary-eyed seeing her interact with them at Halloween each year.

  10. Cheryl Killough says:

I always dress my dogs up, and greet the kids with candy in one hand and dogs in the other. The kids always love the animals.

  11. I always dress my dogs up. The kids love them.

  12. Mary Bultman says:

I also love HALLOWEEN, I look designing a Halloween layoutbafter seeing Jen’S samples.

  13. Elisa says:

I love your two projects. Our favorite tradition is putting out our Department 56 Halloween houses and other decorations. Our children are now 28 and 33, but we have two grandsons who enjoy all the ghosts, skeletons, witches and pumpkins–all friendly, of course! I follow your blog. Thanks for the opportunity to win.

  14. Sue says:

Great projects! I love all your work. Now that my kids are grown I like to sit on the porch and watch all the kids come to the door in their costumes.

  15. sabrina c says:

I keep it simple decoration wise-although I made all of my own Fall decor this year inspired by ideas around me. As far as Halloween traditions I like to make a big pot of spaghetti or chili and pass out candy. In between trick or treaters knocking at the door is full of scary movies that are on tv that night!

  16. Tanya Newman says:

I love when both my husband I dress up and go out with the kids.

  17. I love seeing your blog posts. Thanks for sharing your talent with me. Your Halloween LO is so cute. I love the little ghost. I def. need that set to add to my collection.
    Happy Scrappin Carrie

    • BTW my favorite Halloween tradition is when we take a trip to a real Pumpkin patch and picking out the “best” pumpkins to take home and carve with the kids. This is sometimes challenging in California, not alot of farm land around our city.

  18. Rhonda Miller says:

Wow, what great ideas. I love the layouts and the templates are so fun. My favorite Halloween tradition is taking the kids to the local Pumpkin Walk and spending the day having all kinds of ‘spooky’ fun.

  19. Janis in ID says:

My favorite tradition is just seeing all the children dressed up in their costumes!! They are having a ball and I get a kick out of all the little princesses and skeletons loose on the streets. It’s the one time I wish I lived in town so they would come to my door. I always buy Halloween candy, just in case I get trick-or-treaters, but sadly (wink wink) I end up having to eat it myself. 😀

How lovely of you to offer these cool templates to a lucky follower. I esp love the pumpkins in the set! I already am a follower of yours by email. Yippee!!!
    ❤ J

  20. Cute layout, I just started following your post from the blog hop. would love to win the templates. My current Halloween tradition is to sit on my driveway with my husband and dog giving out candy.

  21. Teresa Melling says:

You are so talented. I love all the Halloween layouts. It’s my favorite holiday.

  22. Jen V says:

My favorite Halloween tradition is watching Hocus Pocus with the kids after they go out trick-or-treating.
